System-Related Processes and Applications
Implementation of the Assembly Process
The submersible level transmitter leak detection system consists of a leak detection system and a test fixture, which controls the pneumatic circuit via valves to detect product leaks. Therefore, all connecting parts between the leak detection system and the test fixture must be reliably assembled to ensure no leakage occurs. The pneumatic circuit of this system adopts a ferrule connection method, effectively ensuring the sealing of pipeline connections. Imported precision ball valves are selected for their high leakage resistance, preventing both external and internal leaks in unit time. The sealed cylinder connection part of the fixture uses argon arc welding, eliminating potential leaks at the source. Only after confirming reliability can the next operation proceed.
System Self-Leak Test
After the leak detection system is installed, a self-leak test must be performed to identify any inherent system errors. The main causes of system errors include the following four aspects:
- Display Instrument Error: Inaccurate zero-point calibration of the display instrument, as well as environmental factors such as ambient light, temperature, and magnetic fields, can cause measurement errors.
- Micro-Leakage Error in System Pipes: Due to factors such as material microstructure, tightness of connection joints, and welding quality, minor leaks may exist in the system pipelines. Accumulated micro-leaks can lead to measurement errors.
- Ambient Temperature Influence Error: Temperature differences on either side of the sealed chamber can create pressure variations inside the chamber, resulting in measurement errors.
- Manufacturing Tolerance Error of Interval Ball Valves: The manufacturing tolerances of the interval ball valve are inconsistent. When closed, the sealing cavities on the left and right sides will have different functions of the ball valve core, which will cause inconsistent pressures and thus lead to errors.
By conducting a system self-leak test, inherent system errors can be accurately identified and reset to avoid false leak judgments in product testing.
Application of the Leak Detection System
This leak detection system is applied in the production process of submersible level transmitters, primarily to detect leaks at the sensor connection and welded pipe joints. It can quickly and accurately measure the total leakage volume of five sets of level transmitters within a unit time, meeting the testing demands of mass production. By integrating this system into production inspections and final product checks, companies can promptly identify defective products caused by leaks, take swift corrective actions, reduce repair time, and enhance product reliability and quality-thereby creating significant economic benefits. At the same time, it has effectively solved the problem of being unable to detect leaks during the production and assembly of liquid level transmitters in the past, controlled quality issues within the enterprise, reduced on-site product leakage and repair incidents for customers, and greatly enhanced customers' recognition and trust in the quality of the enterprise's products.

Conclusion

It elaborates on the system's working principles, structure, assembly process, as well as the force analysis, sealing methods, machining precision, and structural assembly of the test fixture. Through the design and application of this leak detection system, the challenge of leak testing in level transmitter production has been successfully resolved, highlighting the critical role of leak detection in ensuring product reliability. Moreover, it prevents production efficiency losses caused by inadequate leak testing. Furthermore, this system eliminates the need for expensive leak detection equipment, reducing costs and generating substantial economic benefits for enterprises. With the continuous advancement of industrial automation and increasingly stringent product quality requirements, leak detection technology for level transmitters still holds significant development potential. As professionals in mechanical design, we should persistently learn advanced theoretical knowledge and actively apply it in practice to drive mechanical product design toward more rational and practical solutions.
