Flow measurement originated from ancient water conservancy projects and urban water supply systems, such as the weir measurement method in ancient Egypt, orifice plate measurement in ancient Rome, and water level observation at the Bottle-Neck Channel of Dujiangyan in China. In the 17th century, Torricelli laid the theoretical foundation for differential pressure flowmeters, marking a significant milestone. Modern flow measurement technology in China started relatively late, initially relying on imports. It was not until the 1960s that China began producing turbine and electromagnetic flowmeters. The first industrial electromagnetic flowmeter in China was successfully developed by Shanghai Guanghua Instrument Factory.

Fundamental Principl

Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction

E: Induced Electromotive Force

K: Instrument Constant

B: Magnetic Flux Density

D: Measurement Tube Diameter

V: Average Flow Velocity

The flow signal exhibits a linear relationship with the flow velocity.

Measurement Advantages

1. Measures the average cross-sectional flow velocity.

2. Measurement results are independent of physical properties, such as temperature, density, and pressure.

3. No obstructions in the measurement tube, no pressure loss, making it an energy-saving and consumption-reducing product.

4. Short straight pipe sections are required before and after the measurement point.

5. High accuracy and high stability.

Summary: The electromagnetic flowmeter is the preferred choice for measuring conductive liquids.

Prerequisites for Accurate Measurement:

(1) The measured medium must be conductive.

- Minimum conductivity requirement: б ≥ 1-5 μS/cm (water typically has >20 μS/cm).

- Cannot measure non-conductive media, such as oils and organic solvents.

(2) Cannot measure gases.

(3) Cannot measure liquids containing a large volume of bubbles (>5-10% gas content).

(4) Must ensure full-pipe measurement conditions.

We are currently expanding our new flow meter production park. The total construction area of this project is nearly 36,000 square meters, with the water flow standard facility occupying approximately 1,800 square meters. The facility covers a diameter range from DN3 to DN2400 mm and a flow rate range from 0.001 m³/h to 12,000 m³/h, making it the largest and most advanced water flow standard facility in Northwest China. Upon completion, the project is expected to yield multiple invention patents and achieve several domestic firsts and international leading positions.

Additionally, the foundational construction for the second-phase DN400 gas flow standard facility has been completed, laying the groundwork for future development. The types of flow meters that can be calibrated include electromagnetic flowmeters, differential pressure flowmeters, mass flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters, turbine flowmeters, vortex flowmeters, and other instruments. Once operational, the park will become the most authoritative flow measurement testing and manufacturing base in Northwest China.

The smart sensor production line will enable an annual production capacity of at least 60,000 units, boosting output while also enhancing the company's potential and influence in the field of flow measurement. Furthermore, it will elevate the overall level of flow meter manufacturing and calibration in China.
