The water flow meter is an instrument designed to measure the volumetric flow rate of a liquid (particularly water or other conductive liquids) as it passes through a pipe. In water supply networks, the meter monitors the amount of water delivered and detects losses or leaks. In industrial plants, it tracks cooling water, process water, or wastewater flows, enabling process control, resource savings, and failure-early-warning. Accurate flow measurement also supports billing, energy auditing, and overall system optimization.

MFE600-E Electromagnetic Flow Meter

Unlike mechanical flowmeters, the MFE600-E uses the principle of electromagnetic induction: when a conductive liquid flows through a magnetic field, a voltage is induced which is proportional to the flow velocity. Because there are no moving parts, pressure loss is minimal and the measurement remains stable over time.

The MFE600-E offers several standout advantages: it achieves an accuracy of up to 0.2% and delivers world-class long-term stability. Its four-electrode design means there is no need for a grounding ring - simplifying installation while enhancing reliability. Furthermore, it is the first instrument in China to attain ATEX intrinsic safety certification, making it suitable for hazardous area installations. Finally, being fully developed in-house and manufactured via automated production enables a capacity of 60,000 units per year - giving confidence in supply and scalability.

Connection options

To cater for diverse installation requirements and pipeline systems, the MFE600-E offers multiple connection types:

1. Standard flange connection – suitable for typical industrial pipelines, easy installation and maintenance.

2. Stainless-steel housing version – ideal for corrosive environments, hygienic systems (food, beverage, pharmaceutical) or aggressive water streams.

3. Clamp (tri-clamp) connection – permits quick assembly/disassembly, frequent cleaning or inspection, suitable for mobile or sanitary applications.

4. Threaded connection – cost-effective for smaller pipe diameters or lower-pressure systems, suitable for building services, auxiliary loops or small installations.

5. Wafer/clip-style connection – designed for limited space installations or retrofit pipelines where full flanges are impractical; offers compact integration.

Battery-powered version – for remote locations, lack of mains power or temporary installation sites; ensures flow measurement even off-grid.

What kinds of media can an electromagnetic flow meter measure?

What kinds of media can an electromagnetic flow meter measure?
An electromagnetic flow meter can measure conductive liquids - such as clean and process water, wastewater, slurries containing ions or particles, and other liquids with sufficient electrical conductivity.

What media cannot be measured by an electromagnetic flow meter?

It is not appropriate for non-conductive media (e.g., deionised or ultra-pure water with extremely low conductivity), oils or organic solvents (low conductivity), gases or steam (lack of continuous conductive liquid phase).

In which industries can an electromagnetic flow meter be applied?

Such meters are widely used in water & wastewater treatment (raw water, treated water, reclaimed flows), chemical industry (conductive liquids or slurries), pulp & paper, mining & metallurgy (pulp, slurries), food & beverage and pharmaceutical (hygienic water streams), and power/energy sectors (cooling water loops, circulating water systems).
